I never imagined I would want a doula for my birth. Looking back, I absolutely needed Emily. My birth took so many turns as I was induced, and without Emily as my doula, I believe my experience would have been much more difficult. Emily planned with me different techniques not only for pain management, but also exercises to help bring baby down. She was very thoughtful, attentive and most importantly she excelled in her communication. A doula is the perfect advocate for your birth, I believe every woman needs and would benefit from a doula like Emily!

Birth client, unmedicated birth-center birthI had the privilege of having Emily as my doula with my second child at Our Birthing Center in Morristown. From initial contact, Emily was always extremely professional, thoughtful, and responsive. She laid out what to expect and the plan for our visits. She has a wonderful booklet that we reviewed to ensure I understood all of my options and that we were all on the same page in terms of my wishes. When I was in labor, she supported me with counter pressure, a rebozo, position changes, prayer, and advocating for decisions that I felt comfortable with. She collaborated so well with my midwife, nurse and hubby. She stayed incredibly calm and reassuring, even at moments when I felt like panicking, and was an invaluable person on my birth team. Having someone who you already know and feel comfortable with prior to going into labor is so so helpful as you are not in control of who your provider or nurse may be on that day. I have recommended Emily’s services to so many pregnant friends and know that she will be an incredible resource for every mom and family who works with her. Thank you for doing what you do, Emily!

From the moment I spoke with Emily on the phone, I felt a sense of a calm. She spoke positively, shared a genuine interest in my birth plan and was respectful of my wants and needs. She kept in touch and often checked in to see how I was. When I called Emily in the middle of the night after my water broke, she quickly put my nervous mind at ease, instantly sharing words of courage and affirmation. She quickly reminded me that I could do this and would soon meet my baby which would be so amazing. While we had an emergency, Emily was able to support my husband when he couldn't be my side and she quickly met me in my room when the time was right. She took care of me, gave me space and reopened her arms for me (with zero hesitation) when I was ready. She spoke up and advocated for me when I couldn't find my voice. Emily is one of the sweetest souls I have had the pleasure of meeting. While my birth didn't go as planned, she was right, I got to meet to my baby and it was so amazing. She was a fantastic support system for both my husband and myself, checking in quite a few times after delivery. She also opened her heart and arms to another family in need at the hospital, while still making sure she was there for my family. What a truly amazing human!
